Intimate and lively, the historic Hotel Ottumwa boasts strong character while retaining an historic and intimate charm.

The Hotel Ottumwa was built in 1917 with a gala opening in the Grand Ballroom. The hotel closed in 1973 with an uncertain future as it sat vacant for almost a decade, until the Schwartz family acquired it in 1982. With vision, faith in the city, and the desire to serve the best quality foods the Schwartz’s have restored the Hotel Ottumwa to its proud tradition of hospitality for the community. Since the beginning, Hotel Ottumwa has been an integral part of the town’s business world and nightlife.

Today, the Hotel Ottumwa houses many guests, and contains the Tom-Tom Tap, the Second Street Café, and a grand ballroom for weddings, and parties. Having begun with the community, the hotel continues to be a social hub for many organizations to hold banquets and meetings.

The Hotel Ottumwa offers a variety of room styles to accommodate the modern traveler’s needs. Our accommodations include standard rooms, extended stay, whirlpool, and family suites. The hotel also boasts Southeast Iowa’s finest meeting and banquet facilities, including the Grand Ballroom.
