Hotel Ottumwa features 61 modern guest rooms

  • Hotel Ottumwa understands the value of working with our community on local events. They were so accommodating for Live After Five to move us inside the Hotel on very short notice. Our event was a success because of the efforts of Hotel Ottumwa, and we appreciate their community support.

  • Hotel Ottumwa works hard to serve their clients to the best of their abilities. Lori always takes the time to meet with me before every event we hold there and her staff go out of their way to provide excellent service.

  • Lori, Sara and the whole staff are easy to work with and accommodating for any type of need that might arise during our events at the Hotel. The meeting rooms are bright and clean and and the food is wonderful. Hotel Ottumwa is our “go to” place!

Our Story

Intimate and lively, the historic Hotel Ottumwa boasts strong character while retaining an historic and intimate charm.

The Hotel Ottumwa was built in 1917 with a gala opening in the Grand Ballroom. The hotel closed in 1973 with an uncertain future as it sat vacant for almost a decade, until the Schwartz family acquired it in 1982. With vision, faith in the city, and the desire to serve the best quality foods the Schwartz’s have restored the Hotel Ottumwa to its proud tradition of hospitality for the community. Since the beginning, Hotel Ottumwa has been an integral part of the town’s business world and nightlife
